The serti dialed Submariner was discontinued by Rolex around 2008. A newer more subdued serti dial was released, but with no contrasting colors it was unsuccessful and quickly discontinued. This style of serti dial has been consistently popular and you can find any number of dial manufacturer’s making their own ‘‘aftermarket’ versions of these dials. Original serti dials are uncommon to begin with and even moreso when the dial is pedigreed on the papers as is the case with this piece.
The aluminum bezeled 16613 was introduced in 1988 and had a long run. It was discontinued in 2011 with a retail of $9300.
